The second in the series of Burrell Showman’s engines has finally arrived from Midsummer Models, the White Rose of York, Engine no. 2804. Built in 1906 and weighing 18 tons, the White Rose of York is a favourite of many at Steam Rallies in the U.K. White rose of York can often be seen hauling loads and generating electricity for the fairground and as such was a logical choice to follow up on the excellent first released model ‘Britannia’. White Rose of York has an impressive show land pedigree belonging to Alf Payne, Anderton & Rowland acquired the engine in 1923 to be later passed to Pat Collins. After being decommissioned the engine changed hands again and was acquired by Bill Hunt who last steamed the White Rose of York in the early 1960’s. More recently enthusiast John Atkinson lovingly restored the engine with a major mechanical overhaul and returned it to its showground condition with its first major appearance in nearly four decades at the ‘West Of England Steam Engine Society Rally’ of August 2004. This model is presented in its current guise with paintwork restored to how it would have been when working of old. This beautiful and collectable model has been made to a strictly limited run of a 1,000 - each model having its own certificate. The model is 10" long by 5" wide and 6.5" high (250 x 125 x 162.5 mm) and features moving parts, working steering and 123 brand new parts. The White Rose of York has been recreated in 1:24 scale to allow you to capture the essence of this magnificent engine.Toy safety, manufacturer's minimum age - 14 years.
