| RT 2923 1947 RT402 - HLX 219 In 1947, manufacture of the first post-war RT’s started and on Saturday May 10th of that year, RT402 was the first of them to enter service, operating out of the Leyton garage on Route 10.This Weymann-bodied vehicle is a 3RT3 and incorporates all the characteristics this body. Externally, the cab windows were revised and the ventilation louvres were reduced in number. Furthermore, the rear off-side body panel in front of the rear wheel arch no longer curved inwards. In terms of Route information, a Route number plate was added to the front near-side pillar and one above the front near-side window was removed, the front destination blind box was re-located below the Via box and the rear roofbox has been omitted. Internally, the fare chart moved to the off-side bulkhead, just above the off-side longitudinal bench seat, and a bell cord was added. Toy safety, manufacturer's minimum age - 14 years. |
